Join us for a fun afternoon on the Plaza at the V&A Dundee DD1 4EZ. All Welcome
The Community Growing Network will be putting on a display of miniature Gardens on the Plaza for the afternoon. We will be running workshops so you can have a go at making your own floral crowns and jewellery, tasting our mocktails and growing Companion plants. Come along and meet the gardeners, hear more about our growing spaces and find out how you can get involved!
Do you know there are over 30 community gardens/ growing spaces in Dundee you can visit on this morning (Check out where they all are on the map) Help them make a minigarden that will then be taken to a BIG celebration of all these wonderful green spaces at the V& A Plaza - in collaboration with the V&A team as part of their outreach programme for the ongoing Garden Futures exhibition where you'll find some beautiful videos of the people who care for these spaces as well as our Growdundee.blog website.
Garden Mocktails
There are hundreds of plants – cultivated, wild and weeds – that you can use for your garden mocktails, grown by yourself or foraged from nature. Taste some new flavours, from sweet to citrusy, spicy to cooling – nature on your tastebuds!
Green Jewellery
Beauty and interesting forms and shapes can be found in each leaf, flower and tree in our gardens and parks. We have been using plants for thousands of years to adorn ourselves. Make your own piece of jewellery or crown with sustainably foraged greenery and flowers from Dundee’s urban natural spaces.
Garden Collection
A display of 30+ mini gardens, designed and planted by users and volunteers across the Grow Dundee network.
Plant Friends
Did you know plants don’t all like each other? Companion planting can be used for one species to protect, feed the soil, enhance the flavour or repel pests from another. Discover which plants go well with others and sow your own little happy companion pot with 2 or 3 different plant seeds or seedlings.
