Central Scotland Regional Equality Council (CSREC) was set up in 1984. It is a voluntary sector organisation, registered as a charity and a company limited by guarantee consisting of individual members and representatives from a wide range of organisations. CSREC has a remit to work across the areas of Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling Councils. It was set up to eradicate all forms of discrimination under the Race Relations Act 1976. Following the introduction of the Equality Act 2010 and in recognition of intersectionality, we widened our remit to work with all nine protected characteristics. The main aims of CSREC are: to work towards the elimination of discrimination in all its forms; to reduce inequality and promote a culture of human rights; to promote good relations between persons of protected characteristics without distinction on grounds of age, disability, marital status, pregnancy/maternity status, race, religion/belief, sex, sexual orientation and gender reassignment; to promote, build and work in partnership.
