We are a community climate action project (previously Gate Church Carbon Saving Project). Our aim is to help make Dundee a greener, happier, healthier place to live!
Transition Dundee's mission: to build a city-wide project tackling local carbon reduction, increase awareness around climate change, build community and tackle several social issues such as financial insecurity, inequality, social isolation, as well as mental and physical wellbeing. Our new community space at 112 Nethergate is open to absolutely anyone to come and learn about climate change, get involved with our projects and feel like a valuable part of their community. Climate Justice is core to our work - it is vital that EVERYONE has a voice in shaping what Dundee's sustainable future should look like - we will continue to try and benefit the most disadvantaged social groups with every aspect of our work.
Transition Dundee is new but not new . It began as the Gate Church Carbon Saving Project in 2013, helping reduce Gate Church's carbon footprint by implementing energy-efficient measures throughout the buildings, primarily funded by the Scottish Government's 'Climate Challenge Fund' (CCF). During that time our team started various community-based projects - namely Dundee West End Community Fridge, the Community Wardrobe, a series of sustainability-themed Workshops & Events and NeighbourFood Dundee.
