We painted some wooden panels with blackboard paint, you could also use a nice wooden chopping board and not have to bother painting it.
This is the clever bit. Invest in a set of POSCA pens. They are very easy to use, come in a variety of colours and are waterproof. Once they are dry they last for years.
It’s useful to decide on your theme and then do a bit of research about the topic. We all love an interesting fact! A picture will convey a good message if you are short of space and the eye tends to like pictures along with bits of text.
You can make the boards more weather proof by giving them a wax coating. Melt soy wax beads and paint the board all over. Let it dry and then it will stand up to the rain!
