PLANTS FOR POLLINATORS WORKSHOP

Our friend Catherine Lawson came along to spend the afternoon at the Maxwell community garden and tell us all about bees and planting our growing spaces to help pollinators.  She even brought home made cakes!

We learnt all about bees and the amazing job they do flying up to 3 miles to collect pollen and find nectar for themselves.  We made bug hotels and looked at the plants we had in the garden that flower in June.  The bees were loving the chive flowers and the Lavender.  They were busy going from flower to flower and pollinating the Tayberry.  Catherine had sown some pots of wild flower seeds and she gave them out to everyone to plant at home.  Having the seed already grown on in a small pot makes it easier for them to get established if you  are a first time grower.
